Salus Alpha supports Ben Affleck's Eastern Congo Initiative in LA.
(Vienna / Mauren / LA) With the support of Salus Alpha, the Cinema for Peace Foundation hosted a gala in honor of Oscar-winning actor and founder of the Eastern Congo Initiative Ben Affleck. The evening at the Beverly Hills Hotel in California reached its peak when Ben Affleck was awarded with the Humanitarian Award for his commitment to the Eastern Congo crisis.

Accompanied by musical entertainment from the Congolese hit band Maisha Soul, the gala in honor of Ben Affleck attracted worldwide media attention through the participation of well-known personalities from the world of film. Joining Ben Affleck for his accolade were Thandie Newton, Dax Shepard, Kristin Bell, Roland Emmerich and Veronica Ferres. Dr. Aida Takla O'Reilly, President of the Golden Globes, gave an inspirational speech about how films have the power to influence and change social structures.
The most important message of the evening was that local and community-based approaches are necessary to establish a sustainable and successful society in Eastern Congo.
